So, a ‘split’ of some key regions of Spain is seen as justified. The split of the Canary islands is dictated by the NM rules on international tourist arrivals.
Andalusia
This region will be split into an Eastern (Malaga, Granada) and Western (Seville, Cadiz) region. The ‘old’ region remains with Eastern Andalusia. So, you will need to enter Western Andalusia to get this region counted as visited.
Canary Islands
This region will be split into an Eastern (Las Palmas, Lanzarote) and Western (Tenerife) region. The ‘old’ region remains Western Canary Islands (Tenerife). So, you will need to enter Eastern Canary Islands to get this region counted as visited.
Catalonia
This region will be split into an Eastern (Barcelona, Girona) and Western (Tarragona, Lleida) region. The ‘old’ region remains with Eastern Catalonia. So, you will need to enter Western Catalonia to get this region counted as visited.
